CANBERRA - AREVA is seeking a Product Management Director - Health Physics based in our Meriden, CT location.  This qualified individual will be responsible for the lifecycle management of Canberra's global product portfolio.
 
The Product Management Director(s) are responsible for the lifecycle management of CANBERRA's global product portfolio including defining the company's strategic product roadmap and marketing the resultant products.  This includes establishing near-term and long-term product strategies based on an in-depth understanding of markets, applications, customers and competition; developing sound business cases; implementing cross-functional Phase/StageGate team process.  Operating responsibilities include all aspects of the "4Ps" of marketing (product, price, promotion, place) - with full customer focus and customer value management principals.
 
Each Product Management Director is assigned a specific application/product category and supervises the activities of individual product managers working within that assigned area.
 
The PMD is responsible for:
1.      Following defined product processes and practices for product strategy and product planning based on market and competitive analysis.
2.      Managing a team of Product Managers, giving them the coaching and guidance they need to best serve the needs of their product area.
3.      Work closely with the Vice President Global Marketing and other VP functions to establish the proper processes and strategy required to   support the business units overall strategy and business goals.
4.      Regularly monitor the performance and trends of the product lines and using that information in optimizing the product development investments.         .
5.      Work with PDMs in other product areas to identify synergies and sharable technologies and approaches.
6.      Work closely with Sales, Marcom, Sales Support and Business Development to identify long-term strategies and product needs.
  
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
  • Direct the Preparation of Product Segment Roadmaps and presentation to the Management team
  • Develop, maintain and operate under a meaningful product development process
  • Review the performance of the individual product segments and provide feedback to the PMs on required improvements
  • Provide input and direction to the PMs in the development and execution of short term and long term product strategies
  • Direct the preparation and review and approval of business cases for new product development in accordance with established processes
  • Collaborate with the Chief Architect Group on Business Unit Technical Strategies
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of business cases and reviews for the R&D steering committee
  • Lead the PM team, providing mentoring, coaching and direction. Foster full direction of product marketing per the 4 Ps. Operate with absolute focus on the customer and providing superior customer value

  • Collaborate with other PMDs, their teams and VP GM to identify synergies and share solutions and lessons learned

Qualifications
 
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science university degree or equivalent 
  • 7+ years experience in nuclear industry and product management
  • Broad understanding of the nuclear measurements market place, applications and technology required to provide complete solutions
  • Strong business and marketing background working in a technical environment
  • Financial skills to direct the preparation of strong business cases, establish, product budgets and tracking of spending against the budget
  • Ability to lead diverse team of Product Development Managers, providing coaching and mentoring as required to achieve Business Unit Goals
  • Ability to develop and implement overall business unit product strategies including tracking the reporting results
