Position Overview |

The Plant Manager is accountable for management direction and co-ordination of plant Operation activities, consistent with identified plans and objectives. |

Job Duties/Responsibilities |
 |
- Accountable for the performance of the Plant Operations Team and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the production processes and facilities related to the 120 MW Combined Cycle Plant.
- Set and monitor progress against Objectives in support of the Company Mission and Key Strategies, Facility related Operations, Maintenance and HSE related KPI¿s.
- Establish and maintain operating procedures. Identify and champion opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Responsible for the development, technical competency and continuous improvement of all employees and for the administration of applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations, company policies, safety and environmental standards.
- Promote a culture where continuous improvement, plant optimization, team work and reliability is engrained in the way business is managed at the facility.
- Controls fixed and variable operating costs to meet the Annual Operating Budget and as well as managing Capital Budget to ensure projects are properly executed.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to continuously improve plant reliability and availability, takes ownership in managing maintenance KPI¿s and strategies, and to address other issues concerning facility related processes and equipment.
- Responsible for the timely and effective follow-up to non-conformance reports, and corrective/preventative action requests.
- Establish work plans and accountabilities to ensure all Process Safety Management initiatives and objectives are part of the facility¿s operating practices and culture.
- Ensure facility compliance to all ABSA (Alberta Boiler Safety Association) regulations.
- Ensure facility compliance to all AESO Reliability Standards and Policies.
Joint Accountability:
- Work with the Operations Superintendent to ensure that Balzac Power Station maintenance activities are managed in accordance with a long-term plan which takes into consideration full-cycle requirements at the station, ensuring operational reliability and responsible management of existing assets.
- Work with company management on facility capital improvement projects and other special projects and initiatives as required.
- Liaise with the Balzac Gas Complex support staff who assist the Facility in Supply Management, Materials Management/Warehousing, Maintenance and Accounting roles.
- With the pending shut-down of the neighboring gas plant, transition the Facility in to self-supply Supply Management, Materials Management/Warehousing and maintenance services.
- Mutually accountable with energy marketing to ensure that Balzac profitability targets are achieved in accordance with the Annual Operating Plan and marketing strategy.
- Ensure timely, accurate and thorough reporting and information exchange at all Partner Operations Committee meetings. |

Education/Experience |
 |
- Exceptional leadership capabilities combined with effective communication skills.
- A passion/commitment for performance.
- A valid First Class Engineer's Certificate valid in the Province of Alberta.
- Several years experience working in a power plant or large industrial processing facility including a minimum five years combined supervisory and management experience. |
