Director of Information Technology

Description:
Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking highly qualified candidates for Director of Information Technology at the corporate headquarters in Tampa. A leading Generation and Transmission wholesale power supplier, Seminole is owned by its ten Member System distribution companies and indirectly serves the electric power needs of more than 1.7 million end consumers in 46 counties throughout Florida.
Seminole’s IT function is currently in transition as the organization continues to position itself for the future. As a key member of Seminole’s management team, the Director of Information Technology will lead Seminole’s IT function through this transition and guide its future direction through technology integration that aligns IT with organizational business issues.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Identifies, evaluates, promotes and implements application of technology to enhance business operations across the organization
  • Formulates, develops and implements short and long range plans and strategies for information systems technology, equipment and systems
  • Establishes and perpetuates a client based approach to provide effective, uninterrupted services with regard to information systems, internal and external communications systems and administrative services
  • Staffs, develops, mentors and motivates a team of business oriented professionals to ensure that talent and skills meet the current and future business needs
  • Ensures that internal clients are provided with sufficient equipment, consultation, training and support to enhance organizational efficiency and productivity
  • Establishes standards of performance to measure effectiveness and efficiency of the overall information technology function
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of twelve years of experience in information systems or related fields including at least five years in general information systems management resulting in a strong knowledge of technology application, trends and advanced techniques, related business strategies, planning and budgeting and training.
  • Demonstrated successful conversions of legacy systems is highly desirable.
  • The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills and have demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of management to achieve business objectives.
  • Must possess critical thinking and problem solving skills with the ability to apply and convey technical expertise as well as strong human relations skills in effectively leading, motivating and developing talent.
